박물관이 들어설 기존 건물은 습지 바위 모양을 하고 있어 다른 건물들과는 차별화된 독특한 곡선 형태를 지니고 있으며, 구불구불 흐르는 개울을 마주보고 있다. 기존의 건축물을 이용하여 건립될 교과서 박물관은 주변 자연환경과 파주출판도시의 도시적 맥락과의 연계를 위해, 내부적으론 자연광이 적극 도입되는 다용도의 그린 중정이 중앙부에 위치하며, 외부적으로는 기존의 외피 위에 기업의 로고를 참고하여 제작된 철제 루버가 이중 외피로 작동하게 하였다.
